Before talking about the expansion of the Prophet’s Mosque, we should first talk about its religious and historical importance, as it is one of the most famous landmarks that must be visited upon arrival in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Prophet’s Mosque, or the Prophet’s Mosque, as it is known, is considered one of the most important tourist attractions in Saudi Arabia, but it is one of the largest mosques in the world, in addition to being the second holiest site in Islam, after the “Masjid al-Haram in Mecca.”

Since the beginning of its construction, the mosque has been expanding and increasing, as the kings, princes and rulers who were expanding and increasing it until now.
We note that the mosque has gone through many stages of development and expansion that took place in all eras with different times and times, until it reached what it is now.

In the same era, it had 20 doors, along with 8 doors on the eastern side, and 8 on the western side, except for 4 doors on the northern side.
During the Ottoman era, there were expansions in the Prophet’s Mosque, where Sultan Abdul Majeed I made the largest expansion of the mosque, and that was by replacing the crescents located above the minarets, and then other copper for gold-coated copper, in addition to the reconstruction of the “Hanafi mihrab”.
The Ottomans performed a marvel of the honorable kindergarten, in addition to working on rebuilding the western wall, which came from Bab al-Rahma.

The first expansions of the Prophet’s Mosque included a number of restorations, which began from the Prophet’s era through the era of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, and then in the era of the Umayyad state, then the Abbasid state, the Mamluk state and the Ottoman Empire, throughout the historical ages that came before the establishment of the Saudi state.
