The Black Stone in the Noble Kaaba is considered one of its greatest pillars, as it is distinguished as a piece of Paradise, as the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The stone and the shrine are two rubies from the ruby of Paradise.

The Black Stone also consists of several parts, oval in shape, and in color it is black, but it is reddish, and its diameter is 30 cm. It is located in the southeast corner of the Kaaba from the outside.

According to the Islamic belief, the Black Stone is the starting point of the circumambulation and also its end, as it rises from the ground by a meter and a half, in addition to that it is surrounded by a frame of pure silver, which makes its color distinctive and is to protect it.

Regarding the color of the Black Stone, it is said according to many narrations from our Master Muhammad that its blackness is due to the sins committed. It was narrated from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet Muhammad said: “The Black Stone came down from Paradise white as snow, so it was blackened by the sins of the children of Adam.” We note that its blackness is apparent in The stone, but in the rest of its crime it is as white as it is.

We find that he was described as Muhammad bin Khuza’ah, while the Qarmatians returned the stone in the year 339 AH, who had inspected it before it was placed, and said: “I contemplated the black stone while it had been pulled out, and only the black stone was in its head, and the rest of it was white, and its length was an arm’s length.”

Secrets of the Black Stone in the Kaaba and its place

When talking about the Black Stone in the Kaaba as one of the stones of Paradise, it possesses many secrets, other than what the Prophet Muhammad said: “The Black Stone is one of the stones of Paradise”, where we find that despite the historical events that have passed on it, but God’s command and ability have been preserved. This stone has its place.

The following are the most important events that occurred throughout history and the stone remained in its place, namely:

- It was narrated that Amr bin Al-Harith took out the Black Stone in addition to burying it in the Zamzam area and after that he went out, but there was a woman from Bani Khuza’ah who saw him and reported the place of his burial, so they returned him to his place again.

- Also, in Makkah al-Mukarramah during the pre-Islamic era, he was attacked by a man named Tub’ who tried to take the Black Stone in order to send it to Yemen, but we find that the father of Lady Khadija, may God be pleased with her, confronted him as he had a great position in protecting the stone.

- It was mentioned in the Prophet’s biography of our master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, before the mission that the Quraish had renovated the Kaaba, and the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, participated in the sons of his people with regard to moving stones. Putting the stone where each of them aspired to have the honor of placing the Black Stone in its place, and the difference would intensify between them until finally it was agreed that they would take refuge for the first man to enter them into the Sacred House. Among them, he indicated placing the Black Stone on a garment, and after him he commanded each tribe to hold one end of the garment and after that to raise it all together, then the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, carried it with his two honorable hands, to put it in its place and the dispute ended.

- The great incident that the Black Stone was exposed to was when the Qarmatian ruler, Abu Taher Al-Qarmati, attacked the Kaaba, and not only that when the Black Stone was stolen and absent from its place and this remained for a period of 22 years, in the year 317 AH, and made it in an area called the village of Jish, At that time, he ordered the people of Qatif to perform Hajj in that region, but they did not accept this order, so he killed them. Several princes tried to negotiate with him over the Black Stone, but he refused until the year 339 AH. The Black Stone was returned to its place again in the Kaaba.

While in the current era, we find that in the year 1351 AH, a sample of the Black Stone was taken, and musk and amber paste were added to it, whereby King Abdulaziz, may God have mercy on him, put a piece of that sample in its place.

The origin of the black stone in the Kaaba

The origin of the Black Stone goes back to Paradise, where the stones were in Paradise, and after that they descended to the earth, when our master Gabriel descended from heaven, and this is before Abraham built the Kaaba.

And we will find that upon the completion of the construction of the Kaaba, our master Ibrahim, peace be upon him, asked his son Ismail, who was bringing a good stone, and he told him that he was feeling tired, so he brought an unsuitable stone, and our master Ibrahim told him that he wanted a stone other than this, at this moment Ismail went to bring the stone here Our master Abraham, peace be upon him, descended upon our master Gabriel with a stone from India, whose color was pure white, and the reason for its change in color to black was Adam’s descent to earth because of the many sins of mankind.

And when the son of our master Ibrahim came back with the stone, he said to him, “Who brought you the stone?” He said to him: “Who brought it from someone more active than you?” Then they built the honorable Kaaba.

The honorable Kaaba is characterized as a blessed house where whoever enters it is safe, and this is stated in the Holy Qur’an: “And when We made the House a place for people and a place of safety, and they took the place of Abraham as a prayer place, and we entrusted to Abraham and Ismail that Purify My House for those who worship, worship, kneel and prostrate.”

At the end of the report, it should be noted that the Black Stone in the Noble Kaaba has a great and ancient history for many years and has gone through many historical events, but its place has remained stable because of its great and important position, as it is an important corner of the Kaaba.
